ABOUT the artist

Catie Lewis, born in Manila, Philippines (1998), is an oil painter and muralist currently based in Hartford, CT.

Catie’s current work delves into the complex narratives of her Filipino heritage, exploring themes of self-identity, cultural belonging, and the unique experience of navigating one’s connection to their native home as an adoptee.

She began her professional art career in 2019 while living in Austin, TX, by exploring a range of styles and mediums as a self-taught artist. She has since organized three solo exhibitions with galleries in Texas and Connecticut and shown work in largescale group exhibitions such as the annual Austin Studio Tour and The Other Art Fair in Brooklyn, NYC.  Catie has participated in artist residencies across Texas, Connecticut and the Philippines and collaborated creatively with a range of clients, including Google, Lexus, and Herschel.

Through her creative practice, often inspired by personal photographs taken during visits to the Philippines, Catie reveals layers of her identity with each painting series, creating a visual dialogue between memory and rediscovered heritage.
